This is a new website which sells upcycled and recycled products.  There is jewellery made from biscuit tin and belts made from bicycle tyres.  Check it out and get some guilt-free style.

28 October 2009

I have been having a go at needle felting and I love it.  I am not very good at it yet but I love practicing.  It is very good for relieving stress, all the jabbing with a needle into a sponge mat.  Here are a couple of pieces I have made so far.

The first is obviously my attempt at the scottish countryside, a butt and ben, and the second has a tuscan influence and it was raining again so I decided to use some vibrant colours.

I will have to wait until Friday to practice some more as my little boy is fast asleep on the sofa just now and tomorrow we are going into Aberdeen because the new shopping centre opens and Hobbycraft.  My little boy loves crafting so he is very excited.

bye for now. C

Trick or Treat

The end of October brings Halloween and with it children trick or treating.  When I was a child the tradition was to knock on peoples doors and perform a poem, joke or a party piece and in return you were given sweets.  I have only just found out that this is not traditional trick or treating, instead children ask the house owner the question "Trick or Treat?" and if the house owner doesn't give them a treat in the form of sweets etc then the child plays a trick on them.

Happy Halloween!

Raining again

It is raining again in Aberdeenshire, still what can you expect in Autumn.  Here are a couple of things I have been working on this weekend:-

I suppose I should stop thinking about autumn and get on with Christmas, as no doubt it will be here before I know it.

Work In Progress

My work in progress keeps jumping from one thing to another.  Do you get ideas, but instead of writing them down, you stop what you are doing and try out your idea?  No wonder I find it difficult to finish anything.  Anyway here is a picture of my work in progress just now, very autumnal, but whilst I was doing some work on this, the postman came with my order which included some Angelina fibers, which I have never used before, they are so pretty, and very festive.  So I decided I would try out a snowflake idea and here it is.

Sticking to autumn I am away out to collect some leaves for my work in progress.  I think I will leave the snowflakes until the dark cold days that aren't so far away now.  I should enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, since you don't see it much in Aberdeenshire.

First Time Blogger

I have been gathering all sorts of fabrics, ribbons and threads in lovely vibrant colours and all different textures.
I am working on this project just now.  I will keep you updated and will post another pictures when I have completed it.
