Stitch of the week:- FLAT STITCH
This is a great filler stitch being like satin stitch it is quite dense.  It is slightly raised and because you overlap the stitches in the middle it give a vein down the centre - great for leaves.  You could make it less dense and open out the stitches into a open fishbone stitch.  I have used it as a filler stitch in my exotic flower petals.

This week's stitch is RIBBED WHEEL FILLING:-

This stitch reminds me of making spiders webs with sticks and wool when I was little.  It feels therapeutic going round and round in circles (does that say something about me!).  This stitch is similar to spider's web stitch but you have to go under then back over and under again on each straight stitch which is what creates the ribbing .I would use this stitch as snowflakes, centres of (made up) flowers or stars.

I would like to thank Myfanwy for her kind comments on my blog and also for adding my blog to her list  blogsworthasecondlook.blogspot.com/.

For the past couple of days I have been without internet access and I thought it would be awful but it meant more time for embroidery.

This weeks stitch is COUCHING:-

It is the perfect stitch for adding texture to your embroidery with different threads, fibres or wire.  You can also outline curvy shapes easier.  You just lay down your thread or fibre and stitch over it to hold it in place.  Here is my example this week:

Here is another example of split stitch.

A fresh new start for my blog in 2010.

Featured weekly stitch:- SPLIT STITCH.

I love doing this stitch but you have to do it in very good light because it is quite difficult to see if you have split the threads evenly.  I usually use this stitch as an outline but also as stems on  flowers (as you can see in this picture).  It is a very delicate stitch and looks like chain stitch.
